On the 17th of December a delegation of the Aichi Synchrotron Radiation Center (Japan) and the Mitsubishi Research Institute visited ANKA to exchange experiences in the organization of industrial users at synchrotron radiation facilities.
The Aichi Synchrotron Radiation Center is still very new. The first of now six beamlines were opened for users in March 2013. Because the Aichi Synchrotron Radiation Center was build up mainly to serve for industrial customers there was a request to get in contact with other synchrotrons with industrial users. Since ANKA had originally the same focus at its opening eleven years ago our facility was of main interest within the visiting schedule of three synchrotrons in Europe.
The director of the Aichi Synchrotron Radiation Center Prof. Dr. Yoshikazu Takeda was interested in the infrastructure at ANKA and in the way we deal with the requirements of industrial customers. He was impressed by the technical possibilities at ANKA and the chance to get beamtime sometimes within weeks. He was accompanied by Mr. Shuhei Sugie who is advisor for the Aichi Synchrotron Radiation Center from the Mitsubishi Research and Mrs. Yuka Ueda also from Mitsubishi Research that organized the visit. We had a very fruitful day of meetings with various members of ANKA and KIT with an informative exchange of ways to deal with the requirements of industrial users.
