The lecture will focus on electron tomography, a 3D imaging modality based on electron microscopy data. Focus will be on weakly scattering biological specimens, in which case electron tomography becomes a phase contrast tomographic imaging modality. The emphasis of the talk will be on introducing the model for image formation and describing difficulties associated with the reconstruction problem and their mathematical consequences.
